Assessment Center Plugin — User Guide

The Assessment Center plugin helps you identify skills, take skill-based assessments (including AI-generated quizzes), and earn certificates. It links skills to roles (personas) and can analyze job descriptions to suggest required skills. This guide explains how to use it as an end user.

Who can use Assessment Center?

Role	What they can do
Learners (all authenticated users)	View the Assessment Center home, see Skill Identification (their skills linked to their role/persona), take Skill Assessment (per-skill quizzes and overall assessment), view My Certificates, and use the Dashboard.
Teachers / Editors	Everything above, plus: Upload Job Description (analyze a JD and create a persona), use the Persona Builder (create and edit personas and assign skills), access the Control Panel (settings for AI, certificates, quiz difficulty, etc.), and view learner skills and reports.
Managers / Administrators	Full access: manage the plugin, control panel, debug tools, and all teacher features.

How do I open Assessment Center?

Use your site menu or navigation to open Assessment Center. The main page (home) is usually:

Your site URL + /local/assessmentcenter/index.php

From the home page you can go to Skill Identification, Skill Assessment, Dashboard, and My Certificates (and, if you have permission, Upload Job Description, Persona Builder, and Control Panel).

Home page

The home page shows short links or cards to the main areas:

Skill Identification — View your skills (often shown as a “skill wheel”) based on your assigned persona or position.
Skill Assessment — Take assessments: per-skill AI quizzes and the overall assessment.
Dashboard — Overview of your activity and progress.
My Certificates — Certificates you have earned (e.g. after passing the overall assessment or AI quizzes).
If you have the right role: Upload Job Description, Persona Builder, Control Panel.

Skill Identification

This page shows your skills in one place, often as a visual “wheel” or list, grouped by category (e.g. Digital, Functional, Leadership, Behavioral). Skills usually come from your assigned persona (role). If you have no persona or position assigned, you may see a message to contact HR or your administrator. You can filter by category and, where available, see how your skills map to position requirements.

Skill Assessment

Here you take assessments to prove your skill level and earn certificates.

My Skills

You see the skills from your persona. For each skill you can:

Take an AI quiz — The system generates a short quiz for that skill. You answer the questions within the time limit. When you pass, you may earn a certificate (if configured).
View recommended course content (if your site links courses to skills).

Overall Assessment

One combined assessment that covers multiple skills from your persona. Usually it has a set number of questions (e.g. mixed difficulty), a time limit, and a passing score. When you pass, a certificate is generated. You can open it from the success page or from My Certificates. Retakes may require an approved request (your administrator sets this).

AI Quizzes

From the assessment page you can start AI-generated quizzes for individual skills. The system creates questions, you answer them, and your result is saved. Completing these can contribute to certificates depending on site configuration.

My Certificates

This page lists certificates you have earned (e.g. from the overall assessment or from AI quizzes). You can open, download, or share a certificate depending on the options your site provides. If you have not earned any yet, you will see a message such as “No certificates yet” and that completing quizzes can earn certificates.

Dashboard

The Dashboard gives an overview of your activity in the Assessment Center: progress, recent assessments, and quick links back to Skill Identification, Skill Assessment, and My Certificates.

Upload Job Description (teachers and above)

If you have permission:

Open Upload Job Description (often from the home or sidebar).
Enter Job Title and Department, and paste the Job Description text (or use the method your site provides).
Click Analyze. The system extracts required skills and shows a Skill Mapping (skill name, target proficiency, criticality, category, etc.).
You can then Create Persona from Analysis to save these skills as a new persona (role) for use in Skill Identification and assessments.

Analysis may use AI (if configured) or keyword matching. Your administrator controls whether users can upload JDs or only certain roles.

Persona Builder (teachers and above)

Personas are roles that have a set of skills attached. In the Persona Builder you can:

Create a persona — Manually or from a job description analysis (name, function, track, industry/leadership role, etc.).
Assign skills to the persona (from the skill directory), set target proficiency and criticality.
Edit or delete personas and their skills.
View skill mapping for a persona.

When a learner is assigned a persona (e.g. via position or job assignment), their Skill Identification and assessments use that persona’s skills.

Control Panel (teachers and above)

The Control Panel is where administrators or teachers configure the plugin. You may see tabs or sections for:

General / API settings — Enable AI, set OpenAI API key, skill detection method, quiz time limit, allow user upload of JDs, HR contact email.
Certificate settings — Certificate template, signature text, and related options.
Overall assessment — Difficulty mix (easy/medium/hard), points per difficulty, time limit, use of AI for questions.
Other — Caches, API rate limits, debug tools (often managers only).

Save each section to apply changes. These settings affect how all users experience Skill Identification, assessments, and certificates.

Tip: If you do not see any skills or assessments, you may not have a persona (role) assigned. Contact your administrator or HR to be assigned to a position/persona that has skills configured.
